Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS)

Microsoft MS-DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) was an Operating System created by Microsoft. It was first released 1981, and it was discontinued in 2000. MS-DOS had a text user interface, and the only way to interact with it was by using commands (unless you had a Graphical User Interface such as Microsoft Windows). Up to version 6.22, MS-DOS was sold as a standalone product, and the last versions were included in the Windows 9x series.

Early versions of MS-DOS were not sold to the public, but rather to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
